....We will rise! Have you read these books?
You must, if you haven't. I will admit the first 100 pages of From Blood And Ash were a struggle for me, but once I got past that I was done. I could not put it down. The character development was well done. Poppy. Oh, Poppy. Book one she had me. I felt for her. Living in this world she had no say in what was to come. What would you do? I think I would react just as she did. Every character was built to either love them or hate them. And man, did I feel the hate for some characters... *ahem* I'm looking at you, Duke. But the one character that was built up and twisted and turned for me was, Hawke. Whew. I can't comment much on him without giving too much of the story away, but lord, hold on to your seats with him. I loved the world that was weaved in both books. It doesn't matter the author I typically imagine my own scenery, so I don't often critique or talk about the world building because no matter how descriptive the author is, I am going to picture something completely different than what they have put on the pages. That's just me as a reader, nothing to do with the abilities of a writer. But this world was done well. The spiciness... I would give this a solid 4. And I will just comment here that I feel that the joining should happen. Haha! I loved the relationship between Kieran and Poppy. There's one scene in book 2 that I really loved and wished would have gone another way, but we can't always get what we want, eh? Overall, these books are phenomenal. I would highly recommend them to anyone. There is a little bit of something in each for all readers. My rating - 4.5 stars
